Quality Assurance and Quality Control

Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control(QC) both seems similar for people but they are totally different in Product development cycle. QA and QC both have absolute different role. Generally it is assume that both can interchange their role when needed but this is totally wrong, both role are totally different and not changeable.

Quality Assurance
Before discuss regarding the Quality Assurance lets discuss about the Quality and Assurance separately.

Quality:- Quality means product meeting the client requirement with actual result meeting the expected result and the product do not have any defect for the end users.

Assurance:- Assurance means the confidence regarding the product that it will work without any defect.

Now you can easily understand the meaning of Quality Assurance.

  • Quality Assurance have focus on preventing bugs.  
  • The QA role is to improve the development and the test approach so that after development defect should not arise. 
  • QA is the proactive process. QA focus on the process used to make the product.
  • QA make sure that you are doing the right things in the right way.
  • QA process is the responsibility of whole Team.
  • QA process come in Verification category.
  • QA done before the QC.

Quality Control

Control:- Control is the process to verify the actual result with the expected result.


  • QC have focus on identify bugs.  
  • QC role is identify the defect after the product is developed and before the release. 
  • QC is the Reactive process. QC focus on identify defected in complete developer product.
  • QC make sure that the actual result and expected result.
  • QC process have the responsibility of the specific team not whole team. 
  • QC process came in Validation category.
  •  QC has to complete after QA.
As per interview aspect:
This question sometimes ask in interview as per your role and may be interviewer generally ask regarding the different between QA and QC.
