Graphical User Interface(GUI) Testing

In GUI Testing, we verify the user interface of the software and to check this user interface with the specified requirement. User interface means the color, font, font size, Text format, Text Box, Radio Button, Checkbox, Buttons, icons, alignment, links , pop up , contents, Menu bar, Dialog bar,  Tool bar and so many.

Following is the check list that what we need to test in GUI Testing


  • Check all the GUI element size, position, color and alignment 
  • Check all navigation
  • Check all the warning and successful message
  • Check usability condition
  • Check all font that use in software are readable
  • Check the Date format and numeric data format
  • Check object State
  • Check you are able to execute the functionality using GUI
  • In case of Radio button, user is able to select both option but one option at a time
  • Check that user can be able to select both option of check box on same time or any combination he/she wants
  • Button should be activate with the TAB key
  • Cancel button should be with the ESC key
  • on TAB key, control should be move in the order as showing in page
  •  On click on text box, it should be in edit mode and on double click, it will select complete existing text.

XPath Expression to locate Web Element

In last article i mentioned you how to locate the Web Element with id, Name, LinkText, Partial LinkText, CSS Selectors, Class Name and Tag Name. We use FireBug add-one to use these 7 locators to locate the Web Element on Web Page. Now we are talking about XPath expression. Which is also a type of Locator. We need FirePath add-ons to use it.
