Age Testing

Age Testing is the type of testing in which we check that how the software will perform in future, How the software performance going down as per the time passes, How the software dependencies will fall. This all comes under Age Testing.

Now i am adding another terms here call it Defect Age. Let me elaborate how to defect Age of any software.

Defect Age can be check by 2 method. First is Phase and another is Time.

Defect Age in terms of phase is the difference between the defect identification time and defect injection time.
Let's Say in Software Development Life cycle following are the steps
  • Requirement Analysis
  • System design
  • Software Design
  • Coding Phase
  • Testing Phase
  • Deploy
  • Maintenance
so if any defect which introduce in system design and identifies in Testing Phase then Defect Age will be 5-2=3.

Defect Age in terms of Time is difference between the  current date and defect detection date if defect is still open or the date of defect on that that defect get fix.

If defect is detected on 01 Jan 2015, 10 AM and close on date 03 Jan 2015, 11 AM then Defect Age will be 49 Hours.
